Your transcript says "Biology." A college wants to know what that meant.

Course descriptions are the paragraph-per-course document that answers the question, and most homeschool families don't find out they need one until a selective college, an honors program, a scholarship committee, or the NCAA asks. Then it's senior fall and grade 9 is a blur.

This kit gets the whole thing written in a weekend. I built it after reading a lot of thin homeschool transcripts: first as a special education teacher and principal, now across the counter at our used curriculum store.

WHAT'S INSIDE (3 Word files, 51 pages, plus 3 fillable PDFs)

Course Descriptions Workbook. A fill-in block for every course, three worked examples for the hard cases (co-op classes, dual enrollment, the course you built yourself), and 49 ready-to-edit descriptions across English, math, science, history, world language, Bible, fine arts, and electives. They name the curricula homeschoolers actually use: BJU Press, Abeka, Apologia, Saxon, Math-U-See, Notgrass, IEW, Memoria Press, Master Books, Canon Press, and more. Plus a reading-list template for grades 9 to 12.

Homeschool School Profile. The one-page document every traditional high school sends and almost no homeschool does. Fill-in form, a completed sample, and a plain guide to the three lines that change by state: your legal basis, your grading and weighting policy, and your graduation requirements. Works in all 50 states.

The Parent's Guide. Fifteen minutes. What colleges ask for and why, the four-sentence formula, how many hours is a credit, when "Honors" is honest, what to do if you're the counselor on the Common App, eight mistakes that make a transcript look thin, and a one-weekend plan.

Fillable PDFs. Prefer to type? The course blocks, the profile, and the reading list come as fillable forms too. Open, type, save.

WHO IT'S FOR
Parents of a homeschooled 9th to 12th grader who will apply to a four-year college, a scholarship, or the NCAA. If your student is headed to an open-admission community college, you probably only need the transcript.

WHO SHOULD SKIP IT
If you're enrolled in an umbrella school that issues its own transcripts and profile, check what they provide first. You may not need this.

FORMAT
Microsoft Word (.docx) files that also open in Google Docs, Pages, and LibreOffice, plus fillable PDFs. Instant download after purchase. Nothing ships. Personal use only. October 2026 edition.

Pairs with the First Homeschool Transcript System (Premium, Lite, or Print). Works with any transcript, including one you've already built. Want the transcript, the kit, and the guide to crediting real-life courses in one download? That's the College Admissions Packet.

Honest note: every description in the library is a starting point. Edit it to say what your student actually did. Readers can tell the difference, and so can you.
