First Homeschool is Arkansas’s resource for new and discounted homeschool books and supplies. We buy and sell gently used curriculum, literature and other educational items from the public. We are here for you on your homeschooling journey. Let us know how we can help!

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

  1. Bring in your books or other educational items.
  2. Complete our Customer Information sheet (driver’s license may be needed).
  3. Receive a cash/store credit offer from First Homeschool to purchase most (or all) of your items.

HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE VALUE OF MY BOOKS?

  • Current demand
  • Current inventory of that item or related items
  • Book physical condition (front/back cover, spine, missing pages (if any), weathering, markings, scuff marks, etc.)
  • Current retail value on other used platforms (ebay, Thriftbooks, Amazon, etc.)
  • Current retail value of that item (or related items) that we are selling in-store
  • Presence of any inside notes, marks, student answers, highlights, etc.)
  • Feasibility to sell (some items, like All About Spelling Review Boxes, are difficult to sell due to the presence of various levels of flashcards in the boxes)

 HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU TAKE?

  • For most items, customers will receive between 30-40% of our in-store retail price. For example, if we retail your item in-store for $10, the customer can expect between $3-$4 for that item. 
  • Customers may also opt-in to receive store credit for items. If this option is selected, customers will receive 50% of our in-store retail price.
  • Our in-store retail price is defined as the initial price that we mark the item in our physical storefront for the first 3 months. We may always sell the item at a lower price (for example during store sales), but the price will never go up during that 3 month period. Prices are subject to change after the first 3 month period has ended.
  • Item prices may change after 3 months due to changes in demand, store sales, and other variables outside of our control. 

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY OFFER?

  • We will send you an offer as soon as possible, often within 24hrs. 
  • If you have a large number of items, it may take up to 3-5 business days to send you an offer. However, the time is usually less.
  • It’s possible to process your order before you leave the store, depending on customer traffic, number of items you bring us, and the complexity of pricing those items.

HOW WILL I GET PAID AFTER AN ACCEPTED OFFER?

  • If your accepted cash offer is under $30, you will be given cash. 
  • If your accepted cash offer is over $30, you will be offered to receive your payment by check, Venmo, or PayPal.
  • If you accepted a store credit offer, your customer profile will be credited the store credit amount. Store credit may be used against the purchase of any item in our storefront (physical or online).

WHAT HAPPENS TO ITEMS THAT ARE NOT PURCHASED BY THE STORE?

  1. Customers must pick up any item that the store did not purchase by no later than three (3) business days after an accepted purchase offer. Any items not picked up by the allotted time will be placed in our donation bookcase.
  2. Customers do have the option to donate directly their item to the store’s freebie bookcase, located in our classroom space.

DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT? 

  • No appointment is necessary, unless you bring more than 30 items (not a hard rule).

ARE THERE ANY LIMITS TO WHAT I CAN BRING TO THE STORE?

  • Currently, we’re either not accepting or significantly limiting acceptance of the following items:
    • Abeka Video Lesson Guides (copyright prevents resell)
    • BJU Distance Learning Parent & Student Guides (copyright prevents resell)
    • Digital or PDF curriculum that you've printed yourself
    • Books with badly damaged covers or spines
    • Media not in original case
    • Fictional Literature
    • Children’s literature
    • Loose items not in their original packaging (including items in a binder)
    • Board games
    • Heavily marked items
    • Items missing pages
    • Items with a library tag, including items from Imagination Library
    • Wet or water damaged items
    • We will not accept anything from orders that contain live bugs (eww).
    • Encyclopedias sets
    • Time-Life Sets
    • Dictionaries and thesauruses. (exception for children’s dictionaries with pictures or foreign language)
    • VHS
    • Cassette tapes
    • Computer Games
